2026 - Eagles Sustainability Competition

The Eagles Sustainability Competition challenges teams of 2-3 undergraduate students to propose solutions to a sustainability-related issue on Boston College’s campus. A collaboration between the Schiller Institute, Carroll School of Management, and Undergraduate Government Boston College (UGºìÌÒÊÓƵ), the competition partners with a campus department each year to develop the challenge prompt. In 2026, the Office of Student Involvement (OSI) at Boston College challengedÌýstudents to improve sustainability practices in supplies inventory management and tracking, waste generated from marketing materials, and the general environmental and carbon footprint of large events. Teams were required to be interdisciplinary, with at least two different academic majors represented, and to present data-driven solutions. Final presentations were 15-minute pitches judged by faculty, staff, and alumni. Learn more about the winning teams below.

Team members: Jaquelin VasquezÌý (Finance and Economics Double Major and Jaeweon Park (Computer Science and Mathematics Double Major)Ìý

Proposal: A digital-first event promotion system for OSI and student organizations that reduces poster waste while improving how students discover events.Ìý

Second Place: Green Eagles ($1,000)

Team members: Max Hoffmeister (Finance and History), Danielle Cheong (Economics, Environmental Studies, and Finance), and Ethan Roh (Environmental Studies and Finance)

Proposal:ÌýA hybrid system, Eagle Share, that combines a centralized physical storage model with a digital inventory tracking platform.Ìý

Third Place:ÌýGuava ($500)

Team members: Joshua Lin (Finance and Environmental Studies), Cade Okuno (Finance), and Dominic Chen (Computer Science)

Proposal: All student organizations at ºìÌÒÊÓƵ operate under a shared inventory system, The Commons.Ìý
